Things to make weekends more productive and interesting

Weekends are the best to spend time with your loved ones. Due to the pandemic, all the days were fun and frolic ‘weekends’ till the online classes began. Now, with the ongoing online classes, the students have back to the same routine; assignments, studies, homework and so on.

We ourselves are engaged with mobile and laptop the whole week, so why not try making the Saturdays and Sundays gadget-free yet exciting and productive? There are endless activities which you can participate in along with your parents for a well-spent weekend with no devices around.

Here are some of the things that can make your weekend more productive and exciting–

  • Cycling

Cycling in the neighbourhood or at parks is the best way to keep yourself occupied while your parents can walk and exercise at the same time. This lets the parents keep a check on their child’s safety, and both can enjoy an evening together.

  • Following Hobbies

Children love when parents pay attention to their hobbies. Ask your parents to help you with your hobbies and be a part of the activity. This will keep you both engaged for a few hours on a Saturday evening and allows you to build a healthy relationship with each other. You will be able to exchange your thoughts with parents for better understanding.

  • Reading

Reading is the most under-rated activity which students prefer to chill on the weekend. But, reading is the most exciting and productive thing you can do on the lazy weekends. This not only keeps you occupied but helps you to build a strong vocabulary which will follow you in the long-run. To make it more fun, you can always ask your parents to read books to you.

  • Hello to little chefs!

You can help your mother in preparing and cooking a delicious meal for you and your family. Cooking with your mother will not only lower her burden but lets you enjoy the time and learn to cook your favourite dishes at the same time.

  • Gardening

To follow gardening as a passion or weekend entertainment consumes a lot of your time and energy. You can start with a few pots to plant at the beginning and maintain a record of their growth weekly. Later you can expand this to your terrace or balcony region. You can harvest the fresh and home-grown vegetables on the weekend. Ask your parents to help you with the methods; they will enjoy this time too, as it will remind them of their childhood.

  • Art & Craft

Art and craft have always been a favourite leisure activity for the kids. Let yourself mix and paint the colours of your choice without thinking of the actual design. You can free yourself without thinking of the destination and let your creativity come.

Keep yourself involved with nature and your family. Keep yourself away from the gadgets and sleep, and take part in activities that can benefit you in future. As a healthy lifestyle is a blessing, and we surely don’t want to miss out on that.
