Library – A Place Where Words Speak Volumes In Silence

It is a place of unlimited resources and divine knowledge. It’s where wisdom flies in the air. It’s a place where words speak volumes in silence and a pin makes a louder sound than an explosion. It is where every millennial these days rarely enters. It is Library.

Libraries have been around since humans began writing. Since their establishment, they have been a humble abode of knowledge and information. They have a vital and an indispensable role in every—and any—academic system in empowering both faculty and students to use archives and books in day to day academic as well as non-academic endeavours. Libraries hold the facts of the past and present, invariably, to lay them down for the future! With the development of technology, libraries evolved too. The internet and computers made all the activities in the libraries simple and easy—right from searching to borrowing—at the same time, digitised information further enhancing the distance between students and books. Nevertheless, libraries nowadays are proactively digitising information, thereby enabling users to find and utilise resources.

“Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.” – Sidney Sheldon

Contrary to the popular assumption that libraries are only the source for academic information, they serve as repositories of information and knowledge to provide the crucial underpinnings for socio-economic, political and cultural development in any society. For that development to occur, the citizens of society must possess the intellectual capacity to understand and reason with the facts and the world; and this can happen only with the right education. It’s a well-known fact that reading books aids in brain development, thereby contributing to imagination and creativity. Thus, nurturing the habit of reading in children is essential and necessary.

Meru International School has a state-of-the-art library with abundant books that cover a wide range of areas—from literature, science, environment, etc. At the school, children are encouraged to read books and make that a habit. Moreover, the library is equipped with a fine collection of books and computers so that the kids can check the availability of books or any library resources.
