celebrating Holiday Season safely

Tis the season to be jolly!

Mid-December is here, and that means the holiday season is right around the corner! There is going to be Christmas decorations in every store, holiday music playing on the radio and buying gifts for family and loved one. Christmas is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in this world. Christmas is the season of joy, peace and happiness. It is a great season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This festival has grown to become a symbolic day for peace and joy. It is a traditional holiday to be shared with friends and family, but for most of us, this is unlikely to be the case in 2020. With travel restrictions and curfews and the deadly virus out there, we will need to adjust.

As essential holidays are, they won’t be the same in 2020, and social gathering poses lots of health risks during a global pandemic. We need to celebrate holidays safely keeping in mind that there is still the pandemic going on and we have to follow the rules and guideline given by the government, i.e. wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding huge crowds. One of the safest decision is to distance or cancel going to huge gatherings altogether or hosting one too.

Here are a few ways to stay safe and celebrate holidays safely:

  1. Isolate yourself: before visiting any large gathering, isolate yourself for at least one week to not catch any virus so that you can be at peace and spread the virus to your friends and family.

  1. Virtual celebrations: now this is one of the safest ways to celebrate holidays this year. With apps like Zoom, WebX, GoogleMeet, etc., it is easier for all of us to maintain contact with other people. Hosting a virtual celebration is both safe and not missing out on the fun. You all can screen movies together and also sing carols together.

  1. Decorate yourself: if for some reasons you cannot be closer to your family, go out and get decorations and a small Christmas tree. Decorate your house to get the festive feeling going on. Click a few pictures for Instagram, you know you want to!

  1. Easy DIY gift: if you are one of the creative people, then this is the one for you! Instead of going out and buying presents for your loved one, make scrapbooks or pop boxes with memories throughout the years. This is one of the best ways to pass the time and include your family in this gift making process.

  1. Make a Memory Jar: get a mason jar and decorate it beautifully. Write down your favourite memories throughout 2020 and cherish them. Remember that even though 2020 wasn’t your best year, you still had some good times.

Hopefully, in 2021, the new year is going to bring days filled with lots of smiles and happiness all the way with personal growth and development. Play it safe in 2020 with the holiday plans because no amount of positive quotes can guard you against the exposure of the virus. Happy Holidays!
